(1,508 posts)Which one would be worse is like trying to decide which would do more harm. Problem is, they would both do harm so why consider either of them?

(4,532 posts)I still think cruz is more dangerous because trump would do something stupid enough to get himself impeached.

(17,320 posts)VP is likely to become the President after Trump is impeached.

(1,508 posts)I would never want to see a dominionist in the White House, don't even want to see him in congress but because our system is so flawed he's there. I agree with you on Trump, he appears to be the type that is impulsive, however I do believe he would solidify his control over the defense department and criminal justice in this nation and make it very difficult for anyone to impeach him. He is just as dangerous as Cruz. He appears clownish and unintelligent but I don't believe that for a minute. I would say crafty and criminal to say the least and someone that should never gain the type of power the office of the president would afford him. I also think he would probably bring in someone like Christie to head the DOJ, and our gooses would be cooked if that happened.

(14,255 posts)Trump, then it is interesting, at least, to consider what would happen to this country. It is not like we can control who will be their nominee.

(1,508 posts)It appears they can't even control who will be their nominee. The Republican party that is.

(14,255 posts)Although they are giving that their very best shot.

(1,508 posts)If it were left up to Wasserman Shultz there wouldn't even be a primary election. I believe she would have preferred to go right to the coronation of her candidate. Sad day in America.

(14,255 posts)money, power, and property should be turned over to Christians.
If you say hey, Congress would never let a president do anything like that - then why care who is president?
I do think Trump is horrible, but he is also not as horrible as the rest of that terrible line-up.

Trump is crazy and he would run right over congress.

(20 posts)I can't watch video with my slow connection, but didn't Lindsey Graham (who I am no fan of) say it best when he said something like his party having to chose between a Trump and a Cruz was like choosing between committing suicide with a gun or with poison?
If either of them actually became president, everything America should stand for will be in mortal danger.

(1,773 posts)....if only by the simple fact that Cruz is so repugnant, and unlikable...there's no way in hell he could win in the general.
Trump, however, is such a loose cannon, that fucker could do or say anything and throw the entire political map into chaos.

(8,964 posts)One side is a Dominionist theocrat looking for an "End Times Solution" in the Middle East.
The other side is a neo-Fascist who employs a toxic mix of racism, nativism, sexism, fear mongering, and violent rhetoric to pit people against one another.
Unlike a Kasich or Rubio, I don't perceive any "lesser evil" between these two.

(2,145 posts)I'm not afraid of Trump but the republicans sure are. I think he says whatever will suffice at the time to stay on top. i don't think he'd do all that crap that he says. Yes, I could be wrong. And I know Trump is no friend to the working person. Is any republican? But I know what Cruz has done. I don't think he should be allowed to run for President.
But, Cruz is evil. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/12/opinion/the-brutalism-of-ted-cruz.html?_r=0
In 1997, Michael Wayne Haley was arrested after stealing a calculator from Walmart. This was a crime that merited a maximum two-year prison term. But prosecutors incorrectly applied a habitual offender law. Neither the judge nor the defense lawyer caught the error and Haley was sentenced to 16 years.
Eventually, the mistake came to light and Haley tried to fix it. Ted Cruz was solicitor general of Texas at the time. Instead of just letting Haley go for time served, Cruz took the case to the Supreme Court to keep Haley in prison for the full 16 years.
Some justices were skeptical. Is there some rule that you cant confess error in your state? Justice Anthony Kennedy asked. The court system did finally let Haley out of prison, after six years.
The case reveals something interesting about Cruzs character.
I think we are all being manipulated against Trump to the benefit of the republican establishment who does not want to lose control of candidates in the pockets of big money.
