The people of Cuba have had to suffer just because they have a government not run by greed. They have some of the worlds greatest Dr.'s and professionals of all kinds. The people have been forced to suffer under the embargo but also Castro has dealt harshly with dissidents.
He saw the morals of the wealthy Americans in Cuba in the 1950's. They wanted to buy and use the country and it's people. Castro was among the Generals willing to fight to regain their country. Of course, this pissed off the wealthy capitalists and they decided to punish the country, in hopes that Castro would be assassinated. When that didn't work, we sent hundreds of assassins to kill Castro.
While Cuba's financial system has become almost non-existent, the people have excelled in science, medicine and socialism.
While America has tried to spread capitalism throughout the world (and the greed it entails), Castro has held strong to the images of the capitalistic crooks of his youth. "Our" new corporatism is even worse.
All embargoes and attempts to reshape Cuba in our image should stop.
It has come to the point that America needs to re-examine it's form of capitalism (where only the wealthy are rewarded) and stop trying to infect other countries with this diseased model.
Actually, it seems that most Americans are prisoners who, because of wealth and many other factors, are forced to remain in their country, and feed the corporate machine.
