(6,568 posts)2. That's because the Republicans removed the protections in the VRA
that prevented this. The asshole wing of the Supreme Court struck down the portions of the VRA that would prevent this (which strips the DOJ's power to do anything). The ONLY thing Dems can do is try to get elected in areas where this is an issue and rectify it. Or elected to Congress to update the VRA with something that the SCOTUS won't knock down.
