Breaking News: Bernie Sanders Receives Endorsement From Mother Nature

Ironically, the symbolism of a sparrow is one about fastidiousness and strength in numbers.

Clinton camp is currently contacting bird handlers to arrange a larger bird to land on her podium.

I feel like Trump woulda told the security to get that bird outta here.

People better wake up quick. This is not going away no matter how much whining occurs. There hasn't been something this real and palpable in decades. Obama came close but it wasn't the same. The small but proud sparrow is one of the most common birds. However, it is often overlooked, its power taken for granted. Although it is small, the sparrow animal totem is both powerful and productive. It’s persistence and integrity shows us that we do not have to be big to make a difference. We also do not need to have the biggest and best things in order for our voices to be heard.

http://www.sunsigns.org/sparrow-animal-totem-symbolism-meanings/

Call me silly, but I'm taking this as a highly symbolic omen and reminder of the power of "ordinary" people.

There's multiple posts on DU about that bird being a "sign from God" that Bernie will win (never mind that Bernie appears to be agnostic, LOL).

Whenever I see birds flying around in big arenas, Costco, the airport, I feel really bad for them. They obviously do NOT want to be there, can't find any food or water and are desperate to get out.

When you look at the bird in the video, you see it has landed right next to the clear water bottle on Bernie's podium and appears to peck at the bottle to attempt to get at the water. When it can't get to the water it flies away -- probably terrified by the sudden roar of the crowd. Who knows how long the poor thing has been trapped in that arena--it must be thirsty/dehydrated. There is nothing cute or touching about this scene. To me, it is sad for the bird--but then I have empathy for animals...and I'm not superstitious enough to think everything is a "sign."

I'm an animal lover and when I hear about snow storms or horrible weather I always think about the poor animals who get hurt and are left to die. Better that they got killed outright I think. I live in Florida and every time I go to the grocery store there are birds in the parking lots. Always makes me feel about our CONCRETE WORLD.

I DON'T think it's a sign from God in any way myself. I am at the very least an agnostic who was brought up in a very Catholic family. We said the rosary every night! I know people believe deeply in God, but I've come to believe that if there is one we wouldn't see so much suffering in the world.

Thinking about the starving people all over the world who struggle every day and many really do need water desperately! I just question why one country has so much and another will never see anything but struggle.

But what happened today does seem symbolic in some way though. I've been in Costco and in malls and have NEVER seen any bird actually land on anyone. Have you?

Birds will get very close to humans if they want to get at food or water that happens to be near that human. Birds, particularly pigeons, will land directly on your arm if you stand still and hold out your hand full of birdseed. There's a little old lady that does that down at the beach where I live. And speaking of the beach, seagulls are really brave and will swoop right onto your beach blanket to grab food. I once lost a whole burrito that way, LOL.

Not sure that I have seen your expression of empathy for children that have suffered because someone made a Yuge mistake to invade other countries and the consequences we are now living. If I have missed those posts then please provide a link.

Some people just lack judgement.

“Now this little bird doesn’t know it,” the Vermont senator began as the bird hopped around him before alighting on a sign in front of the him that read “A future to believe in.”

Sanders laughed as the crowd jumped to its feet and cheered.

“I think that maybe there may be some symbolism here. I know it doesn’t look like it but that bird is really a dove asking us for world peace,” the Democratic candidate said. "No more wars."

Oh I know he did it with the best of intentions, to stop ethnic cleansing, but all the Allied bombing of Serbia and Kosovo did was hasten ethnic cleansing and kill a lot of civilians. The fighting stopped because just about all the Serbs, and Jews and anyone else not an ethnic Abanian Muslim, was driven out of Kosovo, and vice versa in Serbia. Meanwhile everything from schools to hospitals and tv stations were blown to bits. By us.

Bernie is not against all wars. He certainly supports continued fighting in Afghanistan, where a lot of children have been blown to bits as well, and has voted for every defense budget to come before him in Congress.

Bernie is just another politician; his judgment is far from perfect. He defends the F-35, for one thing. http://readersupportednews.org/opinion2/277-75/24583-bernie-sanders-doubles-down-on-f-35-support-days-after-runway-explosion

I see me pointing out the fact that this bird is actually trapped and thirsty upset you, but you shouldn't expect everyone in the Video forum to gush unquestioningly over everything Bernie. This is not the Bernie Group. If that bird is a "symbol" of anything, it is how civilization traps wildlife...and how humans are oblivious to it.

Reminds me of that rare baby dolphin those Argentinean beachgoers passed around for selfies...until it died.

The 'people' in this particular circumstance were not basically torturing an animal for amusement.

I understand your dismay about the poor trapped bird, I really do. It saddens me as well ... but there's probably nothing anyone can do about it ... and certainly nothing 'in that moment' anyone can.

... but OTOH it's not like I cannot enjoy this moment for what it is ... pretty powerful ... and that's true re: what you feel it's symbolic of, as well.

Honest question ... they say it's a female ... what if she has a nest with eggs and/or live young in the building?

Would you want her removed, then?
