At a campaign stop this spring in Derry, New Hampshire, Mitt Romney pulled a gag that raised eyebrows. While posing for a photo with his arms around the waitresses at Mary Ann's Diner, Romney suddenly jumped forward, acting as if someone had pinched his hind quarters."Oh, my goodness gracious!" he exclaimed.

The GOP presidential candidate later said he was "just teasing" and the gag is "kind of fun to do."

3. Since he's built sort of like my Spousal Unit, I feel safe in making 2 observations

1) He probably doesn't have an ass to grab. (I call it having a bad case of the gone-ass)

2) As rigid as he is in general, I would think what little he did have would be as stiff as a board.

He's probably trying to give one of them ideas; thinking they might make a fine sister-wife.

7. Why is Mitt RMoney making light of the very real problem of sexual harassment?

That kind of shit just is not funny.

Years ago, I took over a command that had a lot of problems, among them a department head who was harassing his subordinates, marking them down on their evaluations and denying them other basic privileges because they refused to sleep with him. Well, I managed to completely repair the damage to their military reputations and got the asshole out of their workcenter with a nice courts-martial for his unsavory conduct, but the one thing that no one could do is return the full measure of innocence and optimism to those young women's eyes. They were forever changed by that asshole's behavior--more guarded, cynical, less trusting. Some might say that's a good set of survival skills to have out there in the big wide world, but I really didn't think being threatened and bullied by a leering pig is the optimal way to acquire those skills.

It's just not amusing to make light of it, Mittsy. I'll bet those waitresses have gotten more ass pinching and other forms of harassment over the years than that obtuse candidate can imagine.

I hadn't thought about that business with the two young servicemembers in years--but it was the first thing I thought of when I saw this "humorous" little account. I'm amazed that didn't get more play when it happened a year ago (I suppose it got hidden in the gaggle of candidates)--it just shows how out-of-touch the asshole is.
