own vision because smarmy self-satisfied conservatives in the Democratic Party think there is no need to push the positive values of LIBERAL thinkng.

No they cower behind images of Republicans afraid to discus their own values with no more intellectual ideas and vision than to "say" see we aren't as bad as those guys.

Seriously disturbing turn for the worse in the Democratic Party. Cowering behind Wall Street to pave a path forward.

Who are the heroes and champions of the working class? You'll never learn about it here.

does our country really have to have its 'back to the wall' for it to be at its best?

I think it would have sounded worse if he hadn't mucked it up so brilliantly. Apparently the assertion is that when our country is in generally good shape, on the whole, we're... so-so. But when we're in serious trouble (the last time we were in really, really serious trouble was probably the Great Depression), we're tops.

Which runs utterly contrary to... um... our entire history?

But whatever, Republicans don't expect their politicians to say things that actually make sense.

Maybe with the addition of:

"THIS GUY?"
"SERIOUSLY?"

on the screen...

Now that I think about it, that might be the perfect anti-Trump ad. Every single anti-Trump ad - just a lot of pictures and videos of Trump being himself, with those words on the bottom of the screen.

"Keep your friends close - and your enemies closer."

This has often been attributed to Sun Tzu and sometimes to Niccolò Machiavelli or Petrarch, but there are no published sources yet found which predate its use by "Michael Corleone" in The Godfather Part II (1974), written by Mario Puzo & Francis Ford Coppola: "My father taught me many things here — he taught me in this room. He taught me — keep your friends close but your enemies closer."

a seriously stupid idea. Gives cover to the conservatives who do not want change in within their own party.

You don't understand how the media desensitizes people to Trump and Cruz. Facism is being promoted as a legitimate alternative to Democracy today. Something that parallelizes the worst movements throughout world history.

We get Trump and Cruz 24/7 as it is. Why come here to see them again EVERY FUCKING DAY?

Further more it speaks volumes to the lack of imagination and vision of the Democratic Party who cannot build a brand the that promotes a party that would benefit the working class because it might alienate Wall Street who views the working class like meat for the market.

On the one hand people complain about US school systems and then we beat down anything outside the status quo.

Sorry to be so harsh, but that warrior bullshit is overrated cliche used as an excuse for doing the wrong thing at the wrong time.

And yes, I'm very concerned about that match-up.

Wide public perception of both of them is very similar.

Sadly, he'd have the advantage on the question of 'says what she/he means' (even if what he means only lasts for a few minutes, then disappears into the strange and disturbing graveyard realm of 'things Donald Trump once thought made sense.')

Getting fucked by Wall Street, the MIC and big multinational corporations while being held down by fundamentalist 'christians' and John Birchers?

I don't think we'll be at our best until we cast off the fetters of neoliberal capitalism and neoconservative empire. When we have a government that upholds our interests and advances positions and policies that promote social, economic and environmental justice and takes a leadership role in creating a worldwide economy that operates based on human need instead of human greed, THEN we will be at our best. A light on the hill.

And you know what? Don't sit there and tell me I'm some kind of unicorn because that's bullshit. This is the way our government SHOULD, and how our lives SHOULD be. Instead of saying, "Oh, that's a pipe dream," stand up and demand it!

We the people are the ONLY thing of which the billionaire parasites are afraid. Let's drive them all back under the rocks with the rest of the squirming maggots.
