BBC Panorama: Why We Voted to Leave--Britain Speaks

Adrian Chiles goes home to the West Midlands to meet Leave voters from both sides of the political divide and find out why Britain voted for Brexit.

He discovers an unlikely alliance of young and old, wealthy and non-wealthy, white and non-white, who all share a belief that their views have not so far been listened to by mainstream politicians. Adrian learns about their lives and their concerns about immigration, jobs and feeling excluded from the benefits of an increasingly globalised world. He also meets Remain voters who blame the Breixters for pushing Britain into crisis.

As the nation reels from the fallout of the Referendum result, Adrian's journey across the region shows just how divided Britain has become.

Listen to some of the people that actually voted instead of the Establishment for a different point of view. Of course, some (many?) people didn't like the programme at all.

Though I would have voted remain if I was a UK citizen, people from the areas that voted leave have legitimate grievances because often those areas of the country have been left behind economically. They were looking for a target for their anger. And the leave leaders gave them one exploiting their legitimate anger to buy their ugly rhetoric.

Remain, if I understand correctly used doom and gloom scenarios to try and get people to vote remain.

Did remain offer solutions like more job investment in communities that were suffering from deindustrizaton? That might have produced a more positive vote.

My spouse would have voted remain but has not lived in the UK for over 15 yrs (which was required) in order to vote. He agrees with everything you mention in your comment. We watched this program last night as well. It was good.

What the program missed though is that they didn't find a well educated professional that voted leave. I guess they couldn't find one.
