His low-information base would gather their torches and pitchforks and his ego would become that much more inflated.

The IRS has infinite patience, or at least should have. An audit that would launch in mid-November -- after he is soundly defeated and coinciding with the Drumpf University lawsuits -- would form a perfect shit-storm. Sure, he could spirit away these souvenirs to another worthy cause, but no organization that cherishes its 501(c)3 status would even consider back-dating a receipt for sweaty athletic wear from a has-been.
