If you needed any further proof that Joe Scarborough and his buddies over at MSNBC are doing their best to turn the network into another version of Fox "news," well, here you go. On this Wednesday's edition of Morning Joe, or as Charlie Pierce likes to call it, Squint and the Meat Puppet, Scarborough and his producers decided to trot out disgraced former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to weigh in on James Comey's decision not to recommend charges over the handling of Hillary Clinton's email server.

(7,820 posts)Their exclusive interview with Jeb Bush. They're airing ads about how those of us on the left are not gonna be happy about their rightward shift. They've fired or muzzled most of the actual lefties on the network. Yeah, been clear for a while what was going on- and it sucks. But their corporate masters have clearly spoken.

(5,106 posts)Regardless of Maddow, ODonnell, Schultz (oh wait...), MSNBC has totally wimped out in terms of being the anti-FOX, but , wait ( there's more that's a definite conundrum): Liberal ideology is straight out and does not rely on all the inferences and dog whistles, that have comprised the Republicans' underhanded policy since Lee Atwater and blatantly, Karl Rove. It's an age old question: believe in rainbows and ponies or nasty slithering serpents. Both are a total crock as long as the the Dems play normal

(5,106 posts)This includes while I was working and/or raising kids. Because I'm involved in politics on the local (including state and national campaigns) level, I know the local political players, who are very involved. I also know many "average citizens" locally who are clueless concerning national, state, and local politics. "Donald Trump is this rich guy who had a TV show" is the extent of knowledge by many college educated professionals-- busy earning a living and raising kids -who are known to me. My mother was a "working mom" long before it was the norm, but still politically active (she co-ordinated JFK's local appearance when he was barnstorming the country in 1960). Perhaps raising only one or two children and working full time is an excuse for shutting out knowledge of national and world events, but that is a complete enigma to me. Granted that I have never really had to deal with both career and child-raising for more than a few years at a time (although graduate classes were also in the mix). You are either interested in politics or you're NOT. If anyone should, be discouraged (God forbid) from voting, it should be those clueless citizens who pay no attention to the actual issues involved.
