1. It's like everything else in this country - Treat the symptom and not the root cause of the problem.

Mike Malloy is right. Every time there's a mass shooting, there's a big pile of flowers, candles and other things at the site of the shootings. But many of these people who contribute to these piles will adamantly oppose any attempt to address the root cause of the gun violence problem in this country and regurgitate NRA talking points in the process.

And our spineless congressional leaders will follow suit with their standard "thoughts and prayers" dog and pony show to address the issue.

When people are more adamant about protecting their rights to acquiring any gun any time in any quantity than their rights to things like free speech and voting, something's wrong.
