1. Despite their bitching about liberals and how they're beholden to Hollywood celebrities,

it's the conservatives that are beholden to them. Conservatives, in spite of their bravado on how they're their own person, pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, and don't need anyone's advice in forming their opinions, are incapable of figuring how to think or how to act without referring to an authority figure. Often, it comes in the form of Hollywood celebrities. Or radio talk shows.

Look at all of the Hollywood celebrities who later had political careers as Republicans - Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarznegger, Fred Thompson, Fred Grandy, Clint Eastwood, Charlton Heston, Sonny Bono. And now, very possibly - Donald Trump. Expand it to sports celebrities and you can add the likes of Steve Largent, JC Watt, Jim Bunning, Jack Kemp and Tom Osborn. Republicans are more easily attracted to celebrities and make this leap of logic that their careers in Hollywood or in sports can parlay into a successful career in politics.

The only Hollywood celebrity I can think of who's holding a political office as a Democrat is Al Franken. The only sports celebrity is Bill Bradley.

5. Which raises the question: how many Republicans/ conservative political figures were Rhodes

Scholars? I'm sure there must be one or two, but they would hide it as being "elitist." ( I'm pretty sure that Marsha Blackburn wasn't one). An amazing number of liberal political figures and, at least one commentator: Rachel Maddow, have been. Wider experience in the world is not necessary, but IS a plus in expanded thinking. Anyone who is worldly enough, but chooses to cater to the "under educated,' as does Trump, is either a charletan or ...power-hungry/insane.

They can't identify with Hillary, and the RW talking hateheads are using it.

They feel their jobs threatened, they don't remember the R's promises of jobs and why they were elected in 2010.

And then there's the church-heads, the nazis, and the kkk.

Where else are they gonna go???

have any concept of being part of the group, Working Class Americans. They act as individuals, with little hope and no power.

A lot like thirsty people in the desert running from one mirage to the other, with nothing to show for it when they arrive.
