(major) parties. Just not with the same names as the two we have now.

Or were you really implying that they have somehow "taken over" the country? If that's the question, I don't know the answer.

Wish we had a parliamentary system like other seemingly more democratic democracies.

For example, I think the terrible gridlock that so hurt Obama and us for the last 8 years could not have happened.

to use an ancient Roman example, the aristocracy versus the commoners. One party has the wealth, but the other has the numbers.
