On the contrary, Democrats were able to allow Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy ($400,000+) to expire when the sequester cuts took effect in January 2013.

Most independent analysts agree that allowing those tax cuts to expire accounted for most of the deficit reduction since then (from $1.1 trillion to $400 billion).
