and there are restrictions on the properties they can lease. All that money's going to go somewhere, so it snaps up real estate "investments" in big cities around the planet.

Vancouver BC has recently tightened up the regulations covering foreign nationals buying real estate. Other cities are going to have to follow suit or risk becoming ghost towns of overpriced and empty real estate owned by people overseas, not just the Chinese.

In the meantime, the west coast isn't the only place seeing a massive real estate bubble fueled by absentee investors. When this one finally pops, it's going to take big city real estate with it across the planet.
