Fight over Dakota Access Pipeline rages on

Published on Sep 22, 2016
Native Americans took their case against the Dakota Access Pipeline to Capitol Hill, with a democratic hearing seeing the emotional testimonies from Native American activists, including the chairman of the Standing Rock tribe. RT America’s Ed Schultz spoke with Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) who says the federal government is ignoring the sovereign rights of Native Americans.

1. Appeals court in DC sets stage for October 5 #NoDAPL hearing

The stage is set for a crucial hearing in the #NoDAPL lawsuit.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals has already placed an administrative injunction on the Dakota Access Pipeline. The order blocks construction in a critical area of North Dakota.

To determine whether a more permanent injunction is warranted, if at all, a panel of three judges will hear the dispute on October 5 in Washington, D.C. An order issued on Thursday calls for arguments to be divided between the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Dakota Access partnership.

As the plaintiff in the case, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe will get 15 minutes, according to the order. The Army Corps, the defendant, and Dakota Access, which intervened as a defendant, are sharing their 15 minutes, with the government getting 10 minutes and Dakota Access getting 5 minutes.

According to the court's calendar, the hearing is the only one on the schedule for October 5 so the judges would have plenty of wiggle room for arguments. Audio will be posted by the court later in the day.

Sacred Burial Ground in North Dakota sold to Dakota Access.

Published on September 22, 2016 in Environmental/Freshest News by Meko Haze

Standing Rock Sioux Tribe announce sacred burial ground sold to Dakota Access.

The announcement comes after thousands came into North Dakota to stand against Dakota Access.

Paperwork was finalized yesterday and money has already been transferred for the sale of the land.

Dakota Access is now pulling similar tactics in Texas that they used in North Dakota.

An area of Cannonball, North Dakota has recently caught the eye of the nation. People from around the world have come together in this small rural area to protect the land from the threat of the Dakota Access Pipeline. It now appears those efforts were futile as the Sacred Burial Ground in North Dakota has been sold to the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The paperwork has been filed with the county.

The announcement comes from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe following the Protecting Native Land and Resources, Rejecting North Dakota Pipeline Forum.
