Unfortunately winning the election did result in a mandate. We need to get out heads out of the sand, move on, and get back to WINNING elections

Most Presidents in the past with his kind of win would have made an effort to be conciliatory. He has done anything but.

If he wants to say "mandate", who are we to argue?

He can run the table on bad laws.

8. The problem is that some people think that mandate has a connotation of overwhelming.

Trump's win could be the weakest ever if the overwhelming loss in the popular vote is considered.

In no way does he have a claim to anything other than squeaking in, more people voted against him than for him.

He does have a mandate, but as you point out, that only means he won, nothing more.

if we accept the GOP claim that he has a mandate.

He is President-elect because of a rigged system, a system set-up to give more power to white voters in rural states, in order to support the system of slavery.

Hillary got almost 3 million more voters, and 3rd party got another 7+ million. That's 76 million voters who OPPOSED him.

When Democratic Presidents in the past have won only a plurality of the vote (not a majority) because of 3rd parties, the Rethugs have insisted that we could not claim a mandate. Well they damn well can't claim one now.
