(29,556 posts)If the dictionary is sexist it isn't my fault. Blame me for a 50 plus year-old joke? Fine.
whathehell
(29,067 posts)You took it out of 1964 and deliberately made a point of the name...Try again.

(29,067 posts)How 'bout deleting the smarmy reference before you get a third hide?

(29,556 posts)No wonder we lost.
whathehell
(29,067 posts)That might work as a deflection if it weren't YOU who started it by posting that very NON-important bit of off-color trivia in a 53 year old movie.
rzemanfl
(29,556 posts)It was you who started the game of "Trivial Pursuit" rather than google a word you didn't know the meaning of.
Let's end this now. K?
whathehell
(29,067 posts)and I didn't need to "google," it, I already knew what it meant, along with the fact that you didn''t have the guts to post it yourself, duh.
whathehell
(29,067 posts)I just described it.

(29,556 posts)I will consider you a force to be reckoned with hereafter and not get sucked into your games again.

(29,067 posts)"sucked into your games again,".
What you're doing there is called "projection" dear, Help is available for it...Good luck with it.

(14,853 posts)Dr. Strangelove was a bit over-the-top, but he actually pulled that off too!

(14,853 posts)One of my favorite movies of all time!
Peter Bull (playing the Russian ambassador) can be seen ready to burst into laughter while watching Sellers/Strangelove explain his "final plan" to deal with the situation.

Actually, that clip cuts it too short! Here's the exchange that reminds me of people discussing President Trump, with General Turgidson being a Republican giving him the benefit of the doubt.
General "Buck" Turgidson: Uh, we're, still trying to figure out the meaning of that last phrase, sir.
President Merkin Muffley: There's nothing to figure out, General Turgidson. This man is obviously a psychotic.
General "Buck" Turgidson: We-he-ell, uh, I'd like to hold off judgement on a thing like that, sir, until all the facts are in.
I first saw that movie many years ago and assumed that paranoia about water fluoridation was a fictional creation for that movie! It wasn't until a few years later that I discovered it was a real conspiracy theory by various kooks!
EDIT: Ugh! I'm not sure why I wrote Ripper instead of Turgidson at first! Too much tap water for me, I guess!

(26,325 posts)Daddy Koch (brothers) was a charter member of the John Birch Society that laid the ground work for people like Reagan and all the bad that followed.
When people say "John who?" I use Frank Burns as an example of paranoid, racist, sees-a-communist-plot-in-everything, tax-avoiding, sniveling weasel.

(3,867 posts)also good, but can't touch Peter Sellers.
Alec Guinness was also fantastic
