Norway marks a year since massacre

Norwegians will mark the first year after the horrific shooting that saw dozens of young people killed at a youth camp. Anders Breivik has confessed for planting a bomb in Oslo and firing on young members of the Labour Youth Movement in Utoya in which 77 people were killed, saying that it was an attack on multiculturalism. But, the young survivors of the incident and other Norwegians say that they do not want to be defined by the massacre. Al Jazeera's Barnaby Phillips reports from Norway.

Tomorrow there is a free concert in the city center. It is 99% sure that Bruce Springsteen will make an appearance there as he plays Oslo tonight.

I'm not sure about how classy we are as a country - I think it is more the way we as Norwegians is regardless of what happening.. You can rock our collective boat (as Breivik did) but you can not sink it, even if you go a lot of water inside the boat.. We scoop the water out of the boat.. Repair the damage and continue the journey even we are shocked about the fact that someone was rocking our boat...

I'm not sure if I'm able to go to the concert (bad knees) but I will remember it, and lighting a kindle for the 77 murdered youths. And at least look at it at TV. The concert will also been aired NRK1-2 and TV2 and TVNorge. So it will be a public concert in many way.

But, think about it - already a whole year since the worst killing spree in Norway since before world war two.. We have going true one of the most public court cases in how many years - where both sides have had their say - and in August we will know what the fate of mr Breivik will be in the end.. Either one way or the other way - he will not getting out form where he is today...
In Prison as alone, miserable excuse for a man...

Peace for the dead - and I just hope we manage learn from this experience, and not let our hate, our anger and our sadness killing us all...

It will be a weird day tomorrow I guess..

I experienced it through CNN, with very few people around me understanding what was going on. Most people thought of it like any old weird TV happening like an earthquake in Pakistan or something. I experienced what it feels like to go through a crisis without anyone else understanding it. It was weird.

I assume the concert will be open on NRK.no, i will stream it.

To anyone in america, you can probably stream it too. It starts 20:00 local time Sunday which would be 14:00 eastern i suppose.

You might be little lucky who was living abroad when it happened - and well we have to se how thing is going tomorrow. It was like looking at a old weird TV sending, from a nature catastrophe a whole different world a apart, even if it happened right on my own doorstep. Scary and horrible sad how bad it was... I was glued to the TV for news about what happened for the whole weekend and the first couple of weeks.. I had to stop looking at the news - as I kind of had a "Overdose" off the stuff in the end... But I tried to follow the court as best I could for the full 10 weeks.. The Experts had some suggestion about the fellow...

I think it will be streamed on nrk.no.. I'm not sure if you in the US can look at it, as it could be some restrictions to it... But it could be cool if it was possible

There is this message but I don't know what it means. Can you translate? Thanks -

NRK viser alle programmer vi har rettigheter til. På grunn av begrensinger i disse rettighetene kan kanalene kun sees i Norge.

It means "We will show everything we have a right to. Because of limitations of these rights the channels can only be watched in Norway".

These are the main "live" stream of the TV channels. They are only for Norway because they show anything that's on regular TV.

However some things have a separate stream that is accessible for all IP addresses. I am pretty sure this will be one of them. There will probably be a link for it tomorrow, or they open up the regular TV stream for it.

They show a lot of things, for example the Olympic tv rights appear the be shared by all the european broadcasting service companies (public like the BBC), so they are actually streaming their own olympic transmissions with Norwegian commentary to all European IP addresses.

That explains why nothing happened when I tried to watch any of the channels. I hope they make it available for US watchers tomorrow, I'd like to watch it, even though I don't understand more than the few words of Norwegian I learned from my grandmother.

What they are saying is in effect, is that this program could just be seeing in Norway. (Aka the IP have to be "norwigian in origin"..

I hope they will make it available outside of Norway - after it have been aired here... At least I think it would be the decent thing to do - as many also outside Norway have interest in the sermony...

And if it ever is possible, it will be on you tube before long .. Many things tend to be on you tube short after it have been aired or other vice shown on TV, so why not this?..

By the way - Bruce Springteen is told to be in the loop to be at the consert to make some noice (He is in Norway and had some conserts last night

No one can "forget" what happened a year ago - to the day in fact!.. But we are still a democracy - and still a open nation, who wil put it behind us, as we often do in the end.. And mr Breivik wil just be a nightmare we have halfways forgotten in a couple of years.... Hi wil for the rest of his missrable life be inside a prison cell, allways to be afraid over the fact that most prisoners wil make a hell for him - or outright kill him if ever posible... He have a bounty on his head... A large bounty on his head as it is.. (I think it is between 700.000 and one million norwigian kroner)...
