To put this in perspective, the net profit of J & J in 2016 was $16.54 billion. So, $100 million settlement not even 1/10 of 1% of that figure.

J & J legal team is probably celebrating their huge victory as I write this.

Capitalism sucks.

Just like the other asbestos companies they have covered it up for years to keep making that $$$$ despite knowing they are killing people.

This is just one of many such cases coming down the pipe. My guess is J&J will be doing a global settlement with victims soon because this verdict will bring awareness to victims to seek attorneys, and embolden attorneys to make the big investment it requires to bring such cases.

I have been scratching my head over this story, wondering
how calcium carbonate is now considered a carcinogen.
Now I know it has asbestos (which is an element like calcium)
mixed in with it.

Unfortunately, I have J&J stock in my retirement account, so I
will also lose money. If I sold all of my stock holdings on moral
principles, I probably wouldn't own any at all !

died of uterine and ovarian cancers respectively in their mid-sixties. Both used baby powder for years and years. These losses seem so unnecessary...a product named "baby powder" sounds like it should be benign and it is deadly.
