Sea pickles by the millions washing up on West Coast

"Sea pickles," the gelatinous, bioluminescent critters properly called pryosomes and more commonly found in the tropics, are washing ashore in decidedly non-tropical places: the Pacific Northwest. This video showing pyrosomes was recorded 85 miles from Newport, Ore., at a depth of 100 meters by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Northwest Fisheries Science Center during a cruise about the administration's Bell Shimada ship.
