Classic and memorial: Gore Vidal vs William Buckley

This is the well know incident between William Buckley and Gore Vidal that occurred during ABC's coverage of the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago. This version has slightly better sound quality and syncronization.

and they are losing, they threaten violence.

Republicans obviously have no intellectual or moral cred.
So they resort to threats of violence.

What sad morally-corrupt people. I do believe, however, that all can be rEdEEmEd.

Mush as I dislike Buckley, and despise his world-view, Vidal was the one who resorted to the Reductio ad Hitlerum argument. I rather respect Buckley for his reaction.

Violence and threats of violence have NO PLACE in civil society.

Buckley and his allied RepubliThugs & RepubliGoons merit zERo respect.

Regardless of what Vidal said there was nothing respectable about Buckley's response.
