I live in So Cal. If we knew instinctually that the alarm we were hearing was for an earthquake, and didn't need to take a moment to figure it out, it would buy us time to get to safety.

I don't even know IF we have alarms - for anything. I've never heard ANY and I've lived here almost my entire life.
