5. More ideas. Less ad hominem.

Hitchens' ideas here describe neocons' belief systems. I've read his biography. He's not a neocon.

He admitted to agreeing with neocons over wars that end believer aggressions, but he was a socialist and liberal in all other respects.

If you're going to bother to respond, please at least use subjects and verbs, since single words tend to be too difficult for anyone to correctly understand.

7. It's not lionizing. I think it's a good reminder of how to look at apocalyptic belief systems.

"Islamophobe" has credence only when Islamophobes have nothing, objectively, to worry them about what drives Islamists' destruction. But they do.

12. I never agreed with everything he said....

but on the subject of religion, he's spot on. Hitchens was no "neo-con". Now his brother, Peter, fits that description to a tee. Richard Dawkins was a great admirer of Hitchens, and together they railed against the monotheistic concept of 'god', and organized religion of any sort. Hitchens was a lot closer to the left than he was to the right, but he had problems with the left's aversion to conflict. He was always ready for a good dust-up with those on the left and the right, depending on the subject matter. All in all, he was a great intellectual mind, and I sincerely miss that intellect, at a time when intellect is looked upon as something undesirable in this country.
