as Brad and Desi pointed out on their Green News report, a major incident would cause oil prices to rise (I'm paraphrasing, but IIRC that's the gist of the commentary).

Just think of all the profit the oil oligarchs would pocket if oil prices went back to bush-era levels. Trillions are at stake. What's a little war or terrorist incident when it would bolster puke re-election and put trillions in the pockets of his backers, including the war industry? And provide them with supposed rationale for absolutely wrecking what's left of the New Deal.

All it will take is one attack and he'll clamp down on -everything- that lets us talk openly, protest openly, and where we receive our information.

He's stated as much that the "internet should be shut down" in times of crisis. Even if that's not possible, the fact that he WANTS that to happen here should say something.

I will say this now: if an attack has a chance of happening, he will -let- it happen so he can finally become the god-king-emperor he so desperately wants to be.

Besides, if a terrorist attack happens, they'll probably hit a city, which tends to vote blue. So to him, it'd be a win-win.
