(6,377 posts)It's going to take time. A long time. But in 20, 30, 40 years, the NRA will be no more.

(51,550 posts)It's so cynical for the NRA to use this African American actor. African Americans overwhelmingly support gun control.

(262 posts)Just another stupid ploy by the NRA to disrupt the happenings these young people are going to achieve. My generation talked but didn't walk the walk after all these atrocities, especially Sandy Hook. PITIFUL!! Now the next generation is going to change things with the guns in this country. The NRA as well as republicons who take donations from the gun lobbyists and the NRA better watch out, these young fighters are after YOU!!!

Time to go back to marksmanship and firearm safety. That might be the only way you will survive.

(9,350 posts)This clip is one of the stupidest, stupidest, stupidest, stupidest clips I have ever seen. I think this guy mentioned bad logic at the beginning of the clip, but this video is full of bad logic. First, even when this guy made this clip one of the student was on the verge of dying and was being kept alive via life support. It has been recently reported that the young girl has been taken off life support and has died. In addition, since the shooting was done by this girls ex-boyfriend and his motive for the shooting was supposedly that he was angry that she dumped, it is possible that the only reason more people were not killed is that he only wanted to kill her and the other student that was shot. Second, this guy states that all the money that is going to the march should be redirected to provide money to provide more armed guards at schools. Does he not realize that two of the most recent shootings took place at schools with armed guards? He should, because he stated that the main/only reason "no one" had died at the most recent shooting was because of an armed Resource Officer and that the armed guard at Stoneman Douglas failed the kids of the school. Having armed guards did not stop these two shootings. As others have pointed out, armed guards did not stop men from attempting to kill both Senator Robert Kennedy and President Ronald Reagan. Trained professional whose job description included keep an elected official from being injured or killed failed to prevent both from happening; how do you expect people whose job description includes teach kids math to prevent kids from being injured or killed.

(3,011 posts)determined that the resource officer's gun actually killed the shooter, even thought the media is reporting this as fact. The police are saying there were many bullets and it will take time to determine if the bullet that killed the shooter came from the officer or whether it was self inflicted. A witness claims he saw the student shoot himself.
I'm sickened that these NRA nuts don't seem to care that these 17 people (and thousands more each year) lost their 1st amendment rights forever.
It is very possible that if the young man had been using an AR-15 and really wanted to kill multiple people, he would have been able to kill the resource officer before the officer could have made a difference.

Two things caught my attention. 1) "...the forces that fund them" is massive Projection. Guessing that the armaments manufacturers and even creepier dark money that funds the Negligible Reproductive Apparatus are plenty steamed at their lackeys for failing to shunt the energy, the tsunami of all of us wanting sensible regulations into the usual next-news-cycle nothingness.
2) These forces also seem quite upset about our efforts to decrease/end platforms airing their crappy little show.
What, the NRA might not be able to Grift for Guns anymore? There's a LOT of money at stake.
