Lieberman added nothing to the ticket, except it was a screw-you aimed at Bill Clinton. If Gore had picked Sen. Graham, it would have provided enough margin in Florida to win the Presidency even with flawed counting.

The SCOTUS 5 were determined for GW to win, no matter what cost. They would have found a way to hand it to him - they had to honor their contract.

That's one of the biggest joys of this choice, really.

All politics is local--I hope the Dem candidates make a point of the "The Ryan Plan" early and often, particularly if they are running against an incumbent. And if they are running against a challenger, they need to pin his or her ass to a board like a stuck butterfly and make them state clearly their endorsement or rejection (going against the national ticket) of the plan.

Link Romney (unlikeable) to Ryan (unknown, but associated with unpopular and destructive policies) to Congressional Republicans down ballot. The Ryan plan shines a light on the party's true motives; and they aren't pretty!

Imagine a national ad campaign that can damage both the Party's standard bearer and your local Congressional candidate!

Yup.

Just like diving into an empty swimming pool from off of the high dive!!

They want to have a discussion on how to ruin America?
Yeah, I think we need to have that discussion.

Let me start it off with asking "why is there a Republican party?"

KO was right.
The last big American political party that vaporized itself was the Whig party.
The "white-men-only" GOP party outdated themselves over 30 years ago when they appointed Ronald Raygun as their figurehead.

Racism, greed, & war-lust are the 3 lynchpins that hold that ugly coalition together.
You would think this Ryan Fiasco would spell the end for that faction but it won't.
And until the Democrats aggressively marginalize their insanity they will never end.
They'll just modify from time to time.

Nearly all of my life (I'm 36) I have lived under the era of Reaganomics & the stupidity that came with it.
One of my most hoped for dreams is to see that philosophy dissipate entirely from American political thought.
So disappointed that it has only gotten worse with time I became disgusted with the Democratic Party & stopped calling myself a Democrat. I don't take to political labels but one I would accept was Progressive because I'm all about progress.

Whatever this movement is called I want it to cherish what FDR said in the Second Bill of Rights & make this country one for Social & Economic Justice for All. He took the mantle of the socialist movement to prevent potential Revolution in the country & we all benefited from it. It's time to get back to that train of thought.

the communists and socialists who put pressure on in the 20s-30s were thrown out of the country. FDR was able to get his New Deal passed because the right-wing was afraid of folks like Eugene Debs. We had about 50 years of people having more of a chance due that legislation and the strong manufacturing/union membership.

Since 1980 however we have had Reagonomics and trickle down. The American Dream has become a nightmare for all but the very wealthiest.

Building up a resistance when you're at 12% union membership at best is a hard thing to do, but that is the kind of work that needs to be done. But know that you are not alone - some of us are trying to raise awareness.
