A repeat of 2007/2008? Hold on, it could be a very rough ride in the near future.

(6,699 posts)Thousands of homes are being scarfed up by investors (those with the wealth to afford puchase price without financing) and AirBnB investors as well.
We're leaving. Can't afford our modest rental in the PNW any longer. I'm glad my four kids all have their homes, but I pity my grandchildren, and anyone else who is just starting out in the home ownership world. It's a nightmare. Starter homes are being swallowed up with offers often $10K+ over asking price. It's a dog eat dog world out there, and I am really sad to see this part of the American dream vanish.

(19,192 posts)just sold their home (they're moving to a different city for his employer). They just sold their house in one day for 10% more than they were asking for. I was flabbergasted. They weren't, because they've been keeping an eye on the housing market. Actually the buyers offered 10% over the asking price plus $5,000, just so no one else could get it.
I don't understand the housing market anymore, I really don't. Are homes not being built? And all this time I thought the "Trump economy" was the best in world history?
