(7,725 posts)GOOD video. It's depressing to have a guy who beats up on Americans everyday. This is how a good portion of wealthy people behave generally though. They think it's funny, and they don't care.

(2,565 posts)Talking to an old friend yesterday, I realized that my husband and I started watching What's My Line from 1950-54 on YouTube, about a year ago. The civility is like salve on a wound after a day of taking in the news. (Although there is some objectification of women that blows our minds--worse at the beginning, calming down a bit now that we're in 1954.) And it's not just in the character of you-know-who and his appointees and GOP minions in Congress, I'm seeing it in aggressive drivers and even more litter by the side of the road. These observations are being validated in local news coverage.
Character. Civility. The graph they use showing that 70% of Americans believe civility has declined since Trump took office--powerful comment, and how does he maintain support if this is the belief? Are there people who know it has declined and are pleased? Or they just don't care that much about it?
I don't think a comedian should have to show civility. The art/life/art cycle.
Happy Thursday to all!
