(46,080 posts)Giuliani sold his soul a looooong time ago when he was a federal prosecutor. He was given leeway when mayor because he was the "antidote" for the NYC's first African-American mayor. (I see a parallel . . . . ) Plus, everyone was afraid of him when he was the mayor.
He was unjustly elevated to "America's Mayor" when 9-11 happened. He was doing what had to be done, nothing extraordinary. (If memory serves, on 9-11, he grabbed the sleeve of Police Commissioner, Bernard Kerik, and exclaimed "Thank God George Bush is our President." )
