(26,178 posts)1. "American" scones are good, but....
NOTHING is better than a traditional, fresh baked scone that is slathered with fruit preserves and then topped with a big dollop of nice, rich clotted cream. Or, visa versa. Either configuration is magical. Wash it down with hot tea, and it becomes magically heavenly.

Or should I just go with the clotted cream, jam, and a spoon?

But I imagine there is a way.
When I was in London for the Silver Jubilee, Harrods, had a 'Jubilee Tea' special - all the tea, scones and cream cakes you could eat for 3 pound sterling. And there were TABLES filled with these treasures. With all of the walking we were doing, indulging ourselves was definitely permissible. The memory can still make my mouth water.
