ICYMI - Mount Hood Summit Rescue - Talk about trusting your pilot !!

No fear, this has a good ending lol

Some twisted trait in me kept picturing a guy with an inflated paper bag, coming up behind the pilot, with a manic look of glee on his face...

ALSO: This video is relevant because it demonstrates the Value of having Socialistic Services in our still mostly fine Republic !!

That pilot kept that helicopter sitting there like a hunting dog w bologna on it's nose....until you say go. Absolutely stunning.
THAT"S WHY THE MILITARY TRAINS!!!

The man rescued is a soldier stationed at Ft. Lewis. He climbed Mt. Hood with a plan to take his own life. Fortunately, he changed his mind. It was late in the day....a particularly dangerous time to descend because of potential rock-fall. He, and his rescuers stayed on the mountain until this copter could be summoned. The unusual method was used because this helicopter did not have a winch.....the preferred method to retrieve stranded climbers.

Hellicopter rescues on Mt. Hood can be treacherous.

amazing and remarkable.

AND, the air is thinner at that altitude, which can negatively affect helicopter performance (and piloting, one would presume).
