1. Won't help him

Manafort could still be compelled to testify.

3. He might do it, because above all else, Trump is stupid.

It won't help Trump. Manafort doubtlessly evaded state income tax in Virginia and NY, and both or either will probably charge him if Trump pardons him-- it's a LOT of money, and they surely don't want to have taxpayers think it's easy to get away with tax evasion.

So Manafort will probably die in jail one way or another. Were it me, I'd rather spend my last days in a federal prison than a state prison.

This is not a surprise in the least.

7. He can try that tactic, but it will not be effective to get himself off the hook.

Manafort has got a boatload of other legal problems on his agenda these days. So even if tRump removes the Federal crimes convictions, Manafort is facing state level problems elsewhere that tRump canít touch. Has no one explained this to tRumpolini?? He is famous for not listening to anyone but himself so someone likely told the fool he has no pardon power for the rest of Paulieís problems but he wasnít listening. Or he stuck his fingers in his ears and began repeating La-la-la-la-la until they turned around and left. When he finally figures this out, he might hold his breath until he turns blue.
