1. I hope they don't pay attention to

storm updates from the National Weather Service. They wouldn't want to get weather information from a socialist, communist, Muslim, nazi organization like that.

4. I get it. It's okay to use publicly funded stuff if you're a Republican.

It's just not okay for anyone else.

9. Since they don't like Amerika

.... maybe they should all move to another country which better matches their values. Iraq, maybe. Or Saudi Arabia. Or Israel. Or anywhere but here .....

Plus, they wouldn't have to cancel their vulture-capitalist, subsidies-free convention there.

10. The GOP is not just "critical" of US government, they are anti-US government, like other terrorists

I wish the Dems would challenge them more on who is really for America and who is against America. Whiich party has done the most to get the country back on its feet and which party has done everything in its power to stymie any efforts to help us?

11. Talk about inflation..

From the article on ending taxpayer subsidy of conventions:
"Every year, more than 30 million Americans check a box on their tax forms to add $3 to the Presidential Election Campaign Fund"

Remember when that used to be a dollar????
I do.

12. And it's also true . . . .

. . . that, for all of the GOP's "anti-Gubmint" bluster, it's the Republicans, from the center-right to the rubber room whack-a-doos, who have far greater representation in Government than any of us will EVER see.

Don't believe me?

Name 20 progressives. Hell, in ANY branch. TWENTY. TWO ZERO. NAME 'EM NOW.

Good. Now how many of the following groups have governmental representation in contrast to those many, many progressives :

Teahadist Republicans.
Moderate Democrat slightly to the left of center who likes them some Laissez-fail.
Milquetoast sensible centrists.
NRA Gun-Centrists.
Grovel Nerdquist Taxophobes.
Free Traitors.
Milton Friedmanites.
"One Man, One Woman".
Global Warming Hoaxers.
Austerity-pushers.
Anti-Europe.
Birthers.
Bible Literalists.
Creationists.

Lots and lots. Admit it, Michael Savage and you Cato/Heritage bastards . . . you're more "government" than I am. Burns you up, don't it???

13. I always ask: If the Republicans are so anti government...

why do they want to run it so badly?

They never miss getting any federal money for their true constituents; the rich and the corporations.

25. If my daughter came to me saying some man told her that men can't do any good

I'd tell her to run like hell the opposite way because he sure as hell wouldn't be trying to prove himself wrong....same with R's talking trash about the US government.

Why would we elect anyone who tells us government can't do any good? Sort of like electing an atheist as pope.

15. Don't forget the biggest one of all:

The whole purpose of the convention is to nominate their candidates to run the government.

16. Political Suicide

The GOP represents nothing. So what is the surprise about anti-government. They have disrespected just about anybody who actually cares about this Country. I give them a F- on everything. My biggest gripe is that they actually believe that they are relevant.

Since they do not need the Government then they should leave the United States and let the People run it. "WE THE PEOPLE of the United States.

Read the Constitution.

so as not to get those Cease and Desist orders. I think Onward Christian Soldiers is a safe bet and a great start, even though a bit 19th century.

24. I'll probably get pilloried for saying this, but I don't think it matters

"We Built This" does not refer to the Republican Convention. It's designed to stroke the egos of the kind of small business owners who are constantly praising themselves for pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, without any help from anybody (and who are probably going to vote Republican anyway).

Furthermore, whining that Obama's comments were misrepresented is a mug's game. It's the latest manifestation of the idea, responsible for so many Democratic losses in the past, that if we patiently explain the facts to voters, they will eventually come to see the error of their ways. Sorry, but that battle is already lost, time to move on. Point out that the flipside to "We Built This" is "You're on your own", and that the Republican answer to spiralling unemployment is to ask you to open your own mom and pop store and then expect you to compete with Wal-Mart (who they'll be subsidising with your tax dollars). Or something like that, I'm sure the Obama campaign would be able to come up with something much better than my crude efforts.

26. You're correct. To "patiently explain the facts to voters" is a waste of time because

the moneyed elite control their dupes by appealing to the primitive brain, not the cerebral cortex. This is a crucial point that must be understood.

It's all about emotion, not intellectual rigor.
