(15,805 posts)The girl is an idiot!
She doesn't have on any protective safety gear, not even a helmet.
Galloping a horse on pavement stresses their leg joints and can cause severe injuries as there is nothing (like dirt or turf) to cushion the hoof and absorb some on the impact.
Galloping a horse on pavement is dangerous because at one point of the horse's stride only one foot is on the ground and the rim of the horse's hoof is the only contact area, increasing the chance of a slip and fall accident that could severely injure the rider and lead to the euthanasia of the crippled horse.
Doing stunt riding within a few feet of a moving vehicle is a tragedy waiting to happen.
Doing stunt riding out in an open setting where anything could startle the horse is asking for disaster

(15,805 posts)The horse was ruined after he fell when his rider whipped him into a hard gallop on a road. Race horses are injured all the time, their leg joints damaged beyond salvage,
raised on a quarter horse ranch, member of a parade riding group.
We NEVER rode our horses on pavement at anything other than a "parade walk" speed even with the proper shoes for riding on pavement, even if the parade was getting ahead of us and we had to "catch up" we would not canter much less gallop.
As for her attire... unbelievably stupid.

(1,945 posts)I didn't even watch the video. Just saw the still photo and thought 'holy crap that's a disaster waiting to happen'! It's so easy to slip on pavement at a run like that, even without a little shift to the side or change in stride, etc. Ugh, just no way.
(Not even mentioning her lack of safety gear...)

(4,930 posts)the is very dangerous for the horse.
Very irresponsible behavior from all of the humans
..and to boot I only saw 1 skill so I don't see how anyone could say she has awesome horse skills. 1 trick doesn't cut it in my book.
I vote for the beautiful horse and hope the beast is OK and kind find responsible owners!

That's a nice looking, and game little horse that deserves better. Someone should introduce this kid to her local Pony Club, where she'd learn the do's and don't's of real equitation. If she lives that long.
I have an old riding helmet with a big hole in the side. I keep it to remind me that hole could have been in my head if I wasn't wearing it.
