For a very good look at who "saw it coming" read "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine" by Michael Lewis.

If he predicted correctly, which seems that he did, why is he a joke?

Did you watch the video? I think his explanation on why by 2020 the economy will collapse is very good. I only differ with him in the year, I think we will see a collapse mid-2019, the fact that farmers are already feeling the burn from the administration's actions, and the steel industry as well due to the tariff fight, some of them thinking they cannot last more than a year, leads me to believe the collapse will come sooner.

Another factor he talks about is the rise in interest rates, it is already affecting the housing market, and will continue to do so, get worst because the fed is considering another hike. Real Estate is climbing so fast that I think a bubble burst is inevitable by next year. Condos that one could buy two years ago for $80,000.00 have suddenly climbed all the way to $140,000.00, that is almost double, and unjustifiable.

An interview with Steve Keen follows, very good as well.

That's why he has earned the moniker "Dr. Doom". The old adage of a stopped clock applies to him.
