he's pissed off most of the world and much of america.

all he has is the rabid support of the ever-shrinking republican party.

so he has nowhere to go but to amp up the intensity of that support, to make them violent.

he can't win by convincing anyone outside his narrow group of loyalist bigots, so he has to get them to start killing and intimidating the opposition.

or he could f*cking resign, but of course, given the choice, he'd eagerly murder thousands of non-whites.

That rwnj said he'd shoot his own sister! I have one family member who I think is also this extreme. He listens to/watches/reads hate radio/Fox/Brietbart & he's a religious kook, too, which makes it all so much worse. I think no matter who wins next week, things are going to get worse. They are poor winners & even worse losers. They will be emboldened by a win & enraged by a loss. I have friends who think we will win the House & everything will start to revert back to normal. I think they couldn't be more wrong. The most dangerous time will be between Nov 7 & Jan 3.

They're not going away just because a democratic house is sworn in. We can take comfort that they can't pass horrible laws, but Donnie hasn't been able to pass much anyway. And the packing of the courts will continue assuming we can't win the senate.

And it will be great to have proper house investigations.

But foxnews isn't going away and the media will still air Donnie's lies and hate, and he'll continue to make stupid executive orders.

Not nearly as much will change as people think.

Hopefully, though, it sets us up well to really change things in 2020.

I wonder if Mr. Spaeth even knows what socialism is, or if he knows that much of our existing systems of governments, churches, non-profits and even businesses have roots in socialism?

these people aren't even aware of what "socialism" means. Like you said, so many of the services they enjoy, so many of the freedoms they take for granted, have socialist roots. When they hear the word "socialism" they hear, "they're going to take everything from you and give it to illegal immigrants and people who don't want to work". And to them that means people of color, which is where all the racism and hate comes from. Why do they think that? Because they're told that by their "president". Like Trump, they're not willing to educate themselves about the actual benefits of a socialistic society. They could have things so much better but anger and hate are so much easier than working for a better world for all.

And that is a butt-ugly face!

I vaguely recall when they started the "don't you think you can spend your dollars better than the government can?" bullshit, and a generally anti-government, anti-tax tone in their discourse. That was a foundation for cutting taxes for the wealthy which has been the root foundation for much of Republican policy as long as I can recall, beginning in the 60s.

But, in order to pass huge tax cut bills, they had to convince our public that taxes and government are evil and then lie to us that their tax cut bills were for the middle class. What a scam, and they've gotten away with it since Reagan. Since then, they've eased another knife into our backs - that of privatizing everything and hence their massive war on anything related to socialism. As we all know, that's nothing but a ruse to line pockets of their funding billionaires.

Maybe we should all corner a Repug and ask them: "What if all our highways were privatized? If so, we might pay a toll and drive 10-miles on a nice highway owned by Company "A". Next, we pay a smaller toll and drive 20-miles on gravel and potholes on a section owned by Company "B". Next, we have to take a 40-mile detour of a 20-mile stretch owned by Company "C" because a section is washed out and the company is entering bankruptcy. In that same week, our kid can't go to school because Company "D" can't make their debt payments and Wall Street has captured all their cash.

We could go on and on, but you get my point that it's all smoke and mirrors by the billionaire class to own and control more and more of our lives from cradle to grave.

Thanks for opportunity for a much-needed rant......

My poor dog looks at me like I'm a raging lunatic most of the time. I can't watch MSNBC without the poor old girl skulking off to the bedroom to get away from the shouting. I can't leave it bottled up inside. That kind of stuff leads to heart attacks, cancer, and problem dandruff. She gets more than enough love and attention to make up for my occasional TV tantrums though. We all need an outlet, and that's why I'm so thankful for DU.

Republicans like to blame democrats for illegals and violence.

Republican illegal alien Christian Rivera killed Mollie Tibbets in Iowa.

Republican illegal Franklin “Freddy” Meave Vazquez Jr. was released by the Trump administration and killed a shipmate on a fishing boat.

Republican illegal Luis Bracamontes was released by Joe Arpaio and later killed two policemen.

This Boston Globe story reports:

In a statement, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said its agents encountered Vazquez “at the Norfolk City Jail in Virginia through its Criminal Alien Program in March 2018 after he was arrested by the Newport News Police Department on forcible abduction charges, which are still pending.”

ICE said Vazquez entered its custody upon his release from jail but that an immigration judge granted him bond over objections from the agency, which released him April 27.
