Related: About this forum"One Person, NO VOTE" Author Carol Anderson, Voter Suppression & Democracy
https://democracynow.org - Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election due to voter suppression. Thats what professor Carol Anderson argues in her new book One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression Is Destroying Our Democracy, which tracks the rise of restrictive voting laws across the United States. In it, Anderson examines how African-American voter participation has been systematically compromised since a 2013 Supreme Court decision that gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
>By the 2016 election, turnout among black voters nationwide dropped from 66 % to under 60 %. The discrepancy was even larger in key areas like Milwaukee, where turnout went down from 78 % in 2012 to less than 50 % in 2016. President Trump won Wisconsin by a margin of fewer than 23,000 votes. Carol Anderson is chair of the Department of African American Studies at Emory University in Atlanta.

OP
What she has to say needs to be publicized, it really is incredible - and shameful.

Saw her on CSPAN Book TV too. Her analysis is shocking, esp. the impact of voter suppression in Wisc. and Fla. on the 2016 pres. election. Incredible.

And most people still don't know. We need to do something about it and getting the word out is an essential first step!

all these good efforts.

She'd also be a great guest on any of the MSNBC prime time shows - or with Joy Reid on the weekend. The Daily Show often has authors - but her message is also current news!
