The Liberation of Ypres, Belgium, Nov 1918 - (speed corrected w/ added sound)

High quality film of Ypres and surrounding areas in Belgium at the close of World War 1 in November 1918. Slowed down footage to a natural rate and added in sound for ambiance. This is from the US National Archives

We are the first people in human history to have such a clear window to living and breathing people as they moved in the world a century ago.

This particular YouTube channel has dozens of speed-corrected videos of films from 100+ years ago. The sound effects are very well done and help to immerse the viewer into what it may have been like. I viewed these in fullscreen mode so that none of the smaller details escaped my attention.

If time travel were possible, this is one of the periods (both US and Europe) that I'd want to explore. But, these old films will have to do.

of the carnage of war.

I wish all of the perps that want to solve their personal problems by waging wars against another people could have to listen and watch what their mayhem causes.
