We played a role in ending WW1, but it was mostly won by the French.

It's a disgrace that he represents our country at an event such as this.

Should add - I can't imagine a better instrument to commemorate the end of war that killed millions, only to have the "peace" set in such a way that the next war, killing many millions more, was inevitable. (Maybe an oboe would have been as evocative? Don't know.)
