The Daily Show - The State of the State of the Union: Not Good, Folks

As the government shutdown continues Nancy Pelosi rejects Trump's request to deliver his State of the Union in the House, and the FBI warns of botched investigations due to lack of funding.

I cannot believe that we've let this unbelievable behavior by the supposed President of the United States go on as long as it has. Jill Wine-Banks was on earlier and she said that Nixon didn't even come close to this! And he behaves this way for the entire world to see! It's worse than a national embarrassment, people are suffering and he's putting us in serious danger, yet he doesn't even pretend to care - he's completely incapable of it!

I find it horrifying that he is putting our nation at risk by this shutdown. Not paying members of the armed forces, FBI, Border patrol, air traffic controllers, etc. seems to me a bigger problem than the migrants crossing the border. Put that together with the economic damage that is being done daily, it is incomprehensible to me that people can still support the POS. What is wrong with people! Not all people who support tRump are getting tangible rewards from his presidency. I just don't get it - at all.

He has no clue and he's making these arbitrary decisions - with no knowledge or foresight - and it gets worse by the day! POTUS has to be the most demanding job on the planet - yet he's not even pretending to do it! I watched Kamala Harris on with Rachel earlier and she talked about her congressional visit to Afghanistan - where she talked with generals and service people there, it's such a complicated issue. So she was flabbergasted when Trump - after talking to no one - just decided we were done there! That's how he does everything - after his "executive time," which involves Tweeting, talking to friends and watching FOX on TV. That's all he thinks it takes!

Meanwhile, he's making decisions involving rolling back safety regulations, environmental protections and rights that we've come to take for granted. But his latest scandal and/or offense makes the front pages and most of the population is completely unaware.

Kamala Harris is quite impressive. Hope she ends up as the candidate for either the president or vice-president position.

I feel like I am living in an episode of the Twilight Zone or something. I keep telling myself that this just can't be happening, but it is and it makes me so angry. What I hate most of all is feeling so powerless to do anything about it.

I keep thinking that "this has to be it!," but the next day there's something mind bogglingly worse! Jill Wine-Banks was on tonight and was asked if Nixon ever thought of threatening John Dean - and she said (and she would know!) that what Trump has been doing is much worse than anything Nixon ever did - and he is a historical pariah! I realize that there are procedures, but Good Grief! In the meantime, he's rapidly destroying this country! And I keep wondering if things can ever be "normal" again - and how many decades might it take to undo all the damage he's done in such a short time...
