(51,299 posts)So disappointed in Steve Schmidt. He is now dead to me, as she will be if she sells out like that.

(202,179 posts)That's where I first ran across her. And she's very anti-Trump. She said that the event that made her turn away from the Republicans was Sarah Palin. Hers is the one show I try to catch in the afternoon. And I'm disappointed with Steve Schmidt, too - the best anti-Trump rant I ever heard came from him on Nicolle Wallace's show.

(51,299 posts)Which is why it is so disheartening to see him working for Schultz. Schmidt is not stupid. He knows Schultz can never get elected, that all he can do is be a spoiler who potentially could help get Trump re-elected.
Hopefully Schultz will continue to implode and there will be no Schiltz campaign. Then Schmidt can come back into the fold, saying he talked sense into Schultz as his advisor and got him to quit. Then I will like Schmidt again.

(202,179 posts)He was good on with Bill Maher too. So it makes no sense that he'd support Schultz - he stands no chance, except as a spoiler - and Schmidt has to know that. Of course, I'm certainly hoping that Trump won't make it long enough to run again, but Schultz makes no sense as a replacement, he has many of the same negatives - out-of-touch and no government experience - and stands no chance, either.
But Schmidt does have more experience with these things than I do, maybe he can talk sense into Schultz and persuade him to give it up. His initial start was so abysmal that Schmidt has to recognize that. Of course, after there is no Trump, where are the Republican never-Trumpers - who we like listening to now - going to go?

(18,758 posts)might be an attempt to push Democrats back to the right a little bit. Schultz sees the Democrats as getting way too far to the left, and I think Schmidt believes that as well. I don't think Democrats will ultimately choose a far-left nominee for president, but Schultz might be trying to insure they come back to the middle somewhat. Personally I don't think it's any of his damned business, and he should let Democrats choose their nominee, not some coffee soaked billionaire with an ego problem.
How are you enjoying the balmy weather, Rhiannon? It's a toasty -3 degrees here right now. The windchill is around -24. It just doesn't get any better than this, huh?

(202,179 posts)Schmidt is no dummy and he has to know that Trump - who is not and never was a Republican - has tarnished his former party beyond recognition. He may detest Trump, but he's far from a liberal, either, and may be afraid that whoever the Democrats nominate - likely our next president - is going to be far more liberal than he can take.
And the weather just this week has been pretty unbearable - second snowstorm in a week just yesterday when we were buried again. The snowbanks are so high already that I'm sticking to roads with traffic lights since it's too hazardous to attempt a left turn otherwise. As for the temperature, it's only a balmy zero here at the moment, not counting the wind which blew the snow all over this afternoon. And it's supposed to be colder than that tomorrow, but at least we're not expecting more snow.

(17,968 posts)That I grew to like her so much. She had Steve Scmidt on but there seemed to be a lot of hilarity.
Personally I doubt Schultz will run. He came across as flat, no personality. Had to delete a tweet that used the Trump insult for Warren. He does not have the experience.
But it is clear Schmidt sold out to the highest bidder. I doubt Nicole would join him.
