for people of color, they usually turn off the body cameras and we have to trust the officer's word

Body-cam footage shows Glendale police Taser tactics that prompted federal lawsuit

(snips)
Glendale police body-camera video shows two officers repeatedly using a Taser on a man in 2017 while his two frightened children watch — an incident that has prompted a federal lawsuit and one officer's suspension.

Johnny Wheatcroft, 39, was with his wife, Anya Chapman, 36, their two children, ages 6 and 11, and a family friend when Glendale Officers Matt Schneider and Mark Lindsey approached their car after a traffic stop July 26, 2017, according to the lawsuit and information provided by Glendale police.
-------
The incident prompted the federal lawsuit filed in November 2018, which claims police used excessive force and violated Wheatcroft's civil rights. It contends Wheatcroft and his family suffered from trauma and physical and emotional damages.
--------
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court of Arizona by attorneys Marc Victor and Jody Broudas, alleges that the officers used "unlawful, unnecessary, unreasonable, and excessive force, which resulted in life-altering injuries to Plaintiff Johnny Wheatcroft and his family."

The lawsuit alleges that officers Tased Wheatcroft multiple times in the back and in the chest while on the hot asphalt. A technique known as a "drive stun'' in which the Taser, normally fired from a distance, is pressed against a person, also was used, both police and the lawsuit say.

Will be interesting to see how this case plays out. I also noticed this is in Maricopa County, AZ which brings back many bad memories of police brutality by their Sheriff.

"Officer" Matt Schneider needs to be in jail along with the officer who assisted.

After reading about so much inaction, I'm guessing corrupt rot goes all the way to the top, which emphasizes the importance of this Federal suit. Still makes me ill to think of the cruelty of Sheriff Joe.

Thanks, Major Nikon.....

The suspension happened over a year later, no doubt after the police chief realized this was going to get a lot of attention and scrutiny after the lawsuit.

So yeah, the civilized society rot goes up at least through the ranks of the police force and if the city doesn't take action against the management of the police force, they aren't any better.

and can not afford insurance due to the risk, this will stop or they will be replaced. Go after the mayor in this case.
I've made complaints to Chiefs and Sheriffs that have been acted on. They do not want to go to court. If a cop gets enough complaints, they end up off the streets. If not their boss has no future.

Know your rights and then stand up for them.

I'm going to repeat that : THIS ENTIRE EVENT BEGAN BECAUSE THE DRIVER DIDN'T USE A TURN SIGNAL.

If cops stopped every car that made a turn without using signal, they'd never ever target serious crime. On any given day, driving anywhere, more people do not use turn signals vs. those who do. This is BS squared.

I couldn't watch the entire video, it was making me scream two minutes in. These cops pulled the man's shorts down and tased him directly on the genitals. TWICE. When in the BLUE FUCK did that become legal ??

I hope the lawsuit bankrupts the city of Glendale. These cops are thugs worse than any gang.

This was a traffic stop, folks. A. TRAFFIC. STOP.

Fucking Arizona.
