He's recording in vertical video format because it's a tree (one of the only acceptable conditions vertical video may be recorded in) and he's trying to get as much of the scene in-frame as he can. Palms can grow straight up or, like this one with the goat on it, they can grow at angles. It is physically impossible for the goat to be moving in the way obviously being implied here. This isn't a gecko or a mountain climber here with the ability to grip the surface. This goat would be tumbling ass-over-head if it tried to climb a truly vertical surface because of where its center-of-gravity is and lack of griping ability. You need only look at at the animal's front legs to know which way vertical actually is. Goats can climb shear surfaces where there are stable footholds to plant their feet.
