Schiff's now famous "You may think it's okay, but I don't" speech, and Joe & Mika's reaction, which mirrors mine exactly. Schiff's speech was his finest hour. OUR finest hour in this mess. The country is so lucky to have him in the House at this time. Pelosi seems to think so, too.

(17,984 posts)I hope our local Democrats will show Mike Turner accusing Schiff of McCarthyism after they used all their opening remarks insisting he resign.
Adam sent the whole Republican staff to the corner for bad behavior.

I wonder if that was a prepared statement? Did he know they were going to call on him to resign? It was too good to be off the cuff, wasn't it? If it was off the cuff, well, he's one cool customer and a genius writer.

(2,565 posts)Right off the top of his head and completely honest.
I loved it.
The demand for his resignation was just the opposite, droned out from a prepared statement that had obviously not been written by the speaker. Makes one wonder who wrote it for him.

(17,984 posts)Adam had notes! He knew what was coming and was well prepared as any good Attorney is.
He clamped down on Mike Turner who whined they should have rebuttal, saying you used all your opening statements to attack me!
Adam is one of those guys who is calm and collected, but when you insult him, be prepared! The whole bunch will think twice next time. That is how you handle a gang of bulles. Now, they all know they are being laughed at.

(37,648 posts)He read it so fast that some words were unintelligible. Yeah...who wrote it, I wonder?

(15,082 posts)I continue to be astounded by McConnell's behavior. I know I shouldn't be, but he is the worst of the worst in my estimation. The way he lies with impunity! The cruelty! It is difficult to imagine what has happened in his life to put him in this frame. The hinted suggestions that he is deeply closeted might explain it, but I don't know. I hope we may someday know what kind of kompromat there is on him and that he suffers some consequences.

He is a greedy, angry, self-hating, disgusting human being.

(24,324 posts)I am 75. I have had it with anyone I know who is a trump supporter.. and believe me, they are few and far between, and I only associate with them as I must.. such as a fellow member of out HOA Board Of Directors.
In infamously told him off in a meeting maybe a year ago or so and posted it here.
He can take his black Ford 250 with the trump sticker and his and his wife's shit eating grins and shove it...,
Whew..

(15,082 posts)Ultimately, I think I enjoy coming to DU because I find so much kindness here. Sure we rage and fight (that's the bear part), but we want what is just and fair to be a part of the decision making in our government and our country more broadly.
So good on ya for calling out the HOA guy! I don't have any patience for the ignorance and cruelty any more.

(37,648 posts)Shows Schiff can play hardball, too. As he said, they chose to use their time to attack him, so he used his time to respond, and that's the end of it. On to the hearing they were there to conduct.

(14,725 posts)depressing fact that all of the repugs signed this hideous demand. That more than anything made me so very sad for our country. I, crazily thought there were still some GOPers with a small vestige of honor left as representative of their constituents and as people.

(37,648 posts)All Trumpers. But the guy who read the statement seemed to rush through it, and didn't say the words with any heart. I wondered if he meant them, or if he was reading it because he had to. But maybe he was just concerned about his time limit.
