1. Sad.

All the great musicians from my generation are dying off. Each time one passes on I am reminded of my own mortality and how much closer it is to my own expiration date. Live each day with gratitude and be truly thankful for the gift of another day of life.

3. Excellent program on NPR's Fresh Air where he talks about his life.

He started out as a guitarist and was forced to change to piano when the tip of one finger was shot off when he tried to intercede in a bar fight. The tip was re-attached, but never functioned the same again.
