But we needed to torpedo Franken over dubious allegations and a stupid joke picture, not to mention Joe Biden's hair sniffing and shoulder rubbing.
All because he was less than truthful about a consensual relationship. 
The righties wailed about how it wasn't about the sex but the lieing. Of course it's very clear now that they don't care about either one, provided they have an R behind their name. Bill Clinton never raped anyone. Juanita Brodderick wasn't credible and neither was hairdo Paula.
He's lied so many times that we don't expect anything else - never mind that fable about "the boy who cried wolf." If he accidentally says something truthful, the news is full of praise! 
I can also remember Jimmy Carter who promised to "always tell the truth." And the news media was all over every statement he made, looking for anything they could find that wasn't 100% bonafide truthful.
