Jane Mayer On the Origin of Right Wing Conspiracy Fabricators

Chris Hayes brings Jane Mayer to American awareness.

Jane Mayer brings Robert Mercer's dark money Government Accountability Institute to American awareness.

Mercer's Breitbart's Steve Bannon was behind Peter Schweitzer, who wrote Clinton's Cash, which kicked off the right wing's media stories.

Now, our media still falls for all this same right wing dirt, motivated by ratings and profit.

My theory: Brad Parscale's digital campaign uses variations of these 'stories' in a game of telephone on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp.

Dark money drives all this. But you can't tell that to Justice Samuel Alito.

So let's make it simple: trump is like the guy who showed up at the pizza place ready to shoot up the place to free the children.

and Hayes, of course.

As Jane says, this could be "interesting".

Mercer's money, Putin's dark money, newly-minted US citizens getting around foreign meddling laws.

And the (R)epuglicons are remarkably happy with this. All of them. Federal, State, Local, School Boards, etc. If they weren't they'd be in revolt against their "leadership". A leadership that is bought and paid for by billionaires from around the world. Not exactly the types that want to associate with the maggat deplorables.

That Republicans are happy with this shows them as anti-American breakers of their oaths of office.

That there's one Mercer-funded source, and as you note, all these other billionaires who promote all the conspiracies 45's base feed on is pretty damned scary and disheartening to the rest of us.

I can only think that it's because oligarchs hate huge swaths of humanity. Yet humans have been the very source of their wealth building.

Why can't oligarchs be content to work with democracies and rule of law?

7. Good questions, ancianita. A bit of luck (genetic, of-the-draw, college) and people feel above

the rest. Holier than thou. "I got mine and you can't have it."

And they do fear that the hordes of us just want to rape and pillage "their" wealth.

I know dynasties rise and fall and the wealth of the families does also. It would be instructive to see how well the ancestors of the Caesar's, Genghis Khan, the noble families of Greece, China, etc. have done a few centuries after the "luck-of-the-draw" has petered out.

Climate crisis has rendered every past lesson we've learned useless.

Now, time is of the essence, and we're still wrapped in tired, old school power struggles.
