1. I am probably the last person in the universe who should respond to this thread...

OK, I'll confess. I saw the original Star Wars (in San Francisco, I think, about 1978). I have not seen any of the subsequent films or TV shows, read any of the books or comics, played any of the games, nothing. I didn't even know that Star Wars had been renamed to Star Wars IV: An New Hope until I searched tonight. Yes, I have been above ground and breathing all the intervening time. If you want to block this reply as coming from a mindless idiot, I'll understand.

Anyway, I thought this characterization of the convention speeches was hilarious, particularly after doing a tiny, tiny bit of investigation about the films I had not seen.

So, my incredibly naive statement is that Mitt is Darth Maul:

From Wikipedia:

As revealed in the Darth Plagueis novel, Darth Maul was apprenticed by Darth Sidious while Darth Plagueis was still alive, thus there were three Sith Lords. This violation of the Rule of Two was justified by Palpatine by his explanation that Darth Maul was never going to become his successor. Instead, Darth Maul was only to serve as a tool of the darkside. As such, Maul was never instructed in many of the more complex Sith Teachings.

Seems like Wittless Mitt to me.

Your turn, you Star Wars geeks. Shoot me down with the real knowledge.

May the force be with you...or is that a stupid thing to say???

2. No, the stupid thing to say would be, "Live long, and prosper."

Can't mix Star Wars and Star Trek together after all.

you have helped me learn how much true wisdom Wikipedia embodies.

For the Holiday Special Joke (uh, slightly paraphrasing (aka abusing) Wikipedia):

David Hofstede, author of What Were They Thinking?: The 100 Dumbest Events in Television History, ranked the convention special (read Clint Eastwood The Good, The Bad and The Empty) at number one, calling it "the worst twenty minutes of broadcasting ever." (sick)
