(11,541 posts)4. "You're on your own." would be a game changer! :)
We Democrats, we think the country works better with a strong middle class, with real opportunities for poor folks to work their way into it, with a relentless focus on the future, with business and government actually working together to promote growth and broadly shared prosperity. You see, we believe that Were all in this together is a far better philosophy than Youre on your own.

"But it could have been because, as the Senate Republican leader said, in a remarkable moment of candor, two full years before the election, their number-one priority was not to put America back to work. It was to put the president out of work."

(BOOING)
Well -- wait a minute. Senator, I hate to break it to you, but were going to keep President Obama on the job.

In Tampa -- in Tampa, did yall watch their convention? I did.
(LAUGHTER)
In Tampa, the Republican argument against the presidents re- election was actually pretty simple, pretty snappy. It went something like this: We left him a total mess. He hasnt cleaned it up fast enough, so fire him and put us back in.
(LAUGHTER)

Now -- but -- but they did it well. They looked good, they sounded good. They convinced me...

... that they all love their families and their children, and were grateful theyve been born in America, and all -- really, Im not being -- they did.
(LAUGHTER)
And this is important. They convinced me they were honorable people who believe what theyve said and theyre going to keep every commitment theyve made. Weve just got to make sure the American people know what those commitments are.
(APPLAUSE)
Because -- because in order to look like an acceptable, reasonable, moderate alternative to President Obama, they just didnt say very much about the ideas theyve offered over the last two years. They couldnt, because they want to go back to the same, old policies that got us in trouble in the first place.

(17,320 posts)2. If Gore had asked for Clinton's help in 2000, he probably would have been elected, which would
have dramatically changed the course of history.

Went to wiki and it too says that Gore did distance himself from Clinton.
Gore formally announced his candidacy for president in a speech on June 16, 1999, in Carthage, Tennessee, with his major theme being the need to strengthen the American family.[116] He was introduced by his eldest daughter, Karenna Gore Schiff.[116] In making the speech, Gore also distanced himself from Bill Clinton, whom he stated had lied to him.

I think the lie Gore referenced was about Lewinsky.

(460 posts)10. It is
a clear choice. The methods Obama uses are proven tactics done before to build the economy, the Republicans know this, yet they have this dislike for Obama so much they will do anything to make him fail. But we won't let them do it. I will not sit by and see our president bullied, I will vote for him.
