makes me lean towards the theory that this mob intended to actually harm the Ambassador. After all, if they can kill an ambassador then they can surely kill a nobody like him. I think he came forward out of fear, because if the information is out there, he is safer that he would be in the shadows where he could be Epsteined. Fruman, imho, is in the most danger at the moment... I wouldn’t be surprised if he wound up suicided in order to keep him from having an opportunity to corroborate Parnas’s story.

additional personal security. Unless the next government freezes their accounts, and disallows their fleeing the country to their other so-called properties.

That's a possibility. Keep them here, and they never know how safe they are. Let them keep their money and flee, and you're more likely right.
